MORE ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP:
  • Harry is a Year 2 pupil at his local primary school and will be joined by his mum, Michaela, to share with us their experience of AAC in an inclusive classroom.

  • Harry will tell us what he thinks about his school in his own words with his communication device.

  • Michaela will explore her experiences and reflect on the successes and the challenges so far.

  • A few topics she will cover include the path to school (including navigating the DECD funding and assessment process), what it means for their family to have Harry attending his local school and being an advocate for Harry.

  • They will be joined by their speech pathologist, Amelia, who will provide her insight of supporting a young AAC user in an inclusive setting.

WHO IS THIS EVENT FOR:
  • These events are a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and make valuable connections for sharing experiences and knowledge and supporting each other. After the lecture there will be time for drinks, nibbles and plenty of chatting!

  • Parents who would like to hear from another parent on a similar or even a different path to theirs. Families who are considering their schooling options.

  • Teachers, SSO's, school leaders, DECD staff and anyone in an education setting to understand the school experience from a pupil and parent's perspective.
